Nothing new

Not a lot happening, other than it's gone damn cold here again, was nice and warm yesterday, but today was a very cold and snow, man, I wish the weather would make up it's damn mind. I would rather expect it to be cold and dress warmly rather than freeze my arse off, when I find that it isn't at all warm, plus this apartment doesn't really allow for me being able to tell what the weather outside is like.
Sarah is having all sorts of problems, her former boss is now threatening to sue her if she continues to involve the NZ embassy. We can't wait until she finds out that the labour department is involved and going to visit her next week.
It's only Tuesday and it already feels as if it should be Friday, the kids won't like me much this week, as I'm feeling rather grumpy already, I'm not usually this bad until Friday, it's hit 4 days early. am extemely tired, but at least I don't have the headache I had yesterday, it was so bad that it made me throw up, icky.
Okay, I'm done complaining now, am going to sleep at the very early time of 10pm.

Hi everyone!

Have almost got everything I need set up on my computer, I believe. Installed the software for my camera, am just having a few minor difficulties with emailing them to people, but will post a couple here.
So, last night Sarah and I went to Chumdun, to have dinner and drinks with her friends over there. Was quite a fun night, even managed to get a picture of Sarah, so here it is, well hopefully. Actually, we have Nigel with prawn cracker sticking out from every orafice inhis face or should I say head, and my Wa Bar beer glass, shall try for the picture of Sarah now. This should be the right picture.
Sorry mum, no pictures of myself as they ones I have are terrible and I don't want toher people to see them, you can have one when I figure out how to get the email working.
Now I just have to wait for kat to call.

An uneventful day

Not a lot happened today, managed to finish all my report card comments though, even though they aren't due until the 28th and I've almost finished my April kindergarten schedules too, I just have to type them up, and they're not due until the 5th - also copied all the immersion activities for all my classes next week too, man, I have like no like, but it also means I don't have to prepare as much for classes during the week and I can read instead, so there is definitely and upside, the upside for Sarah is that other than feeding her I also copied half of her stuff for her too, aren't I a wonderful person.
Tomorrow we are having an eaarth day themed birthday party, with recycling hop scotch, don't even ask me too explain and a bunch of other useful, fun, earthy stuff. I get to be the host so that should be interesting to say the least.
Will remember to install camera software at the weekend and will post some of the photos I've taken since I got my camera, there won't be any of me, that I can guarantee.

Hi

High speed internet is a wonderful thing, downloaded an antivirus, skype and msn yesterday and each only took like 45 seconds to download, ain't it great!
Sarah is still way confused about the way we do things here at my school, it totally different from her school, a lot more relaxed and fun for the kids apparently. She said all they ever did was sit and repeat, where as my kids get a healthy dose of sarcasm everyday.
Was good and finally remembered to call Kat yesterday, and Marka dn Sera too, sounds like Sera's been working a lot because she had crashed out by the time I called.
I am totally happy with myself for having managed to set up all this stuff for my self, now I just have to install the software for my camera and I'll be all set. When did I learn to do such things for myself, as I have absolutely no idea, Mark usually does it for me. Oh well, have a good day everyone and I shall catch up with you soon.

Computer has finally arrived

Got the computer home this evening and guess what? I was going to set everything up and do you know what I found, or didn't find would be more accurate, a power cord for the monitor, I didn't realise that they didn't give me one when I bought it. So I went to emart, they weren't particularly helpful, so then I went to Lotte mart, and I must have looked really pathetic as he went and found me an old one that they must have had lying around (either that or someone is going to be very unhappy tomorrow when they try to use their computer, but hey thats not my problem).
So now I have a working computer, yey! Just not using the net yet as I don't think any virus protection came with it. Either that or I just can't find it.
Sarah finally made it over to my school this afternoon, so she starts tomorrow, have moved her into Jeff's apartment and was even kind enough to cook her dinner (she says I fed her so that she doesn't get food poisoning and I have to teach extra classes that I don't want to teach, she may have a point there!).

So, this is what has happened today

Sarah and I were up until around 3am this morning, packing up her apartment, sending an email to her recruiter, and trying to blacklist her boss. Then we got up again at 7.30am to finish the packing and cleaning, we didn't bother eating as we figured we could go for lunch around 1ish as her boss (or should I say former boss, lovingly nicknamed the stupid bitch, as we wouldn't want to confuse her with me the Grand High Bitch, I may be the bitch of all bitches, but at least I'm not entirely stupid all of the time), but her boss didn't show until after 5 and then the apartment wasn't clean enough for her liking, as in everything was garbage (I think it's the only English word she knows!). The washing machine is garbage, the kettle is garbage, the toaster is garbage and the bedding is garbage. I totally wanted to kill the bitch, I mean she fired just to avois paying her contract completion bonus and for her to get back to New Zealand, she really sux, so if anyone teaching in Korea reads this blog, watch out for schools who attempt to do such things to you - Jung Chul School in Gwangju, is not a good place to choose to work, and we have discovered that even though her boss is in breach of the labour act there is nothing us foreigners can do about it, as we have no legal legs to stand on here.
So, we had 3-4 hours sleep, and no food for more than 12 hours as by the time we dropped some stuff off at my apartment around 7.15, then got ourselves to the Outback Steakhouse in Sang-mu, we had a 45 minute wait before we were even seated and then had to wait for food, so it was after 8.30, more than 13 hours after we got up, when we had our first meal of the day.
Oh, and Kat, we're totally sorry that we didn't call, like we said we would but we lost track of the time and we were in different apartments at the time, I shall try to call you on Monday at around 5.30 NZT, as I shall go to buy a calling card tomorrow, I shall even ride my bike all the way downtown.
I think that covers most of the high points of the day!

That really sux ..

I just spent 5 minutes writing a blog and now it won't publish and it has disappeared, well I can't be bothered going into all that detail again, so here's the gist of it. There is good news and bad news
GOOD NEWS: I bought a camera yesterday and my computer will be arriving today
BAD NEWS: They are slapping a tax of 80,000 won on it and Jeff, the other foreign teacher quit yesterday so I am left here all on my own.

Good News/Bad News ...

I have to pieces of each. I'll start with the good news, yesterday I finally bought a digital camera, and have been testing it out with the help of the kids today, was going to take pictures in the park this morning but it was way too foggy. Will get some of the rainbow bridge on my way home tonight. Also my computer will be arriving today, a man called with the good news and also some bad news, they are slapping an 80,000 won tax on it because it came in through a Korean airport, I mean how the hell else was it supposed to get here.
The other piece of bad news is that Jeff, the other foreign teacher is gone, so I am left here all on my lonesome until they get a replacement, at least they are bringing in another Korean teacher to cover his classes as I don't need or particularly want the extra work.
okay, that's all I have to say, but if anyone wants to chat I'm sure I'll be on msn or skype over the weekend, if those of you that know me wish to know my user names email me.

Yey! Buying a camera today!

Apparently I have to make sure that everyone understands that my parents are not rich and that if they do set up this airport shuttle business, the bank will be lending them the money. Plus Jude Dobsons husband is just the marketing director - there mum are you happy now!
So, there is still little of interest happening here at the moment. Jeff is going to Canada on Sunday, he is planning on coming back to Korea, whether or not it is this school I don't know.
Kat has had a major problem with her visa in Taiwan and shall be returning to NZ for month on Saturday, so not fair but I am guessing that she won't be getting time off at her birthday to come and visit me, so I hope that her summer vacation is either early July or early August since I plan on being back in NZ from the 15th to the 24th of July.
Rained today, you don't see rain a lot here, it mostly rains at night, though I am told that the whole month of July will be continuous rain, fun huh! Can't be worse than NZ in the summer, as January tends to be the rainy month in Dunedin.
Um, computer won't arrive until the beginning of next week, it should have left Christchurch today, I may come down to work on Saturday to check and see if it has arrived (well, just in case).
Am reading the dark-hunter books again as I have nothing better to read and I just finished the Half Men of O series yet again. Man, I'm going through books so quickly it's not funny. The Kinley MacGregor ones I ordered the other day should arrive next week, yey!
OH, yeah, I totally forgot about the titlem, am going to buy a digital camera after work, and am armed with everything that I sould need written down in Korean.
Okay, have said enough now, am going back to check out the dark-hunter website again.

Yey! Payday!

Obviously I got paid today. Now I can go and buy myself a digital camera. I know exactly which one I want, it's a 5 megapixel Olympus one. Very good, or so I am told. Also sent a vep (very expensive package) to my mother, was like $100, it's all amazons fault, they sent me this huge box which had only 6 books in it, I had it sitting at work and just kept brining in stuff I didn't need at home and it now weighs 6.6kg. Mum, by the way, it should arrive on Monday (there is even a present in there for you).
In other good news, it sounds like my dad is starting up his own business, which will involve driving an airport shuttle. For all NZers, you probably know who Jude Dobson is right, well her husband like is in charge of the company, but my dad will own the Dunedin branch I believe. I think that's how it works, Mum didn't really explain. I think dad just need to get a special licence to carry passengers.
Was a rather interesting argument at work today between Jeff and Chelsy about his visa, which he doesn't have and whether he is going to Canada or Japan on Sunday, he wants to go to Canada for 2 weeks, as he also needs to get a new passport as his expires in 4 months, so he isn't sure he will get a visa without it. But the director wants him to go to Japan for just 3 days and try to get back in. Not sure what will happen but everyone was angry and so I disappeared to post my package. Not sure if Jeff will bother coming back, he isn't happy. And from what I hear, they have done something pretty bad to Alex too, and now he is ahving problems with his visa, for his new job.
I'm glad that when I go I shall be gone permanently and not trying to find a position somewhere else.

I have a bad feeling...

Well, I am rather grumpy for some unknown reason today, so I have a feeling that naughty children aren't going fare well for the rest of the day. My head hurts and I feel as though I could sleep for a week. Nick mentioned yesterday that he thought he had been hit by a truck, I am beginning to understand that statement very well.
Eris, sorry to hear about the dentist troubles, but I guess it was about time someone paid you back for the whole Trojan War debarcle. I may have had more sympathy, had you not threatened to kill me recently.
Am getting bored again, as I am almost out things to read again. That's Athena's fault too since she forgot to bring those books for me to read on Saturday. Dude, do you want to go downtown on Saturday so I can get them off you then and we can have lunch at the Steakhouse and I can show off the shiny new digital camera I'm going to buy on Thursday! Yey!

Just a quick one

only have like 3 minutes between classes, had a relatively boring weekend. Met Sarah on Saturday, we had lunch and went to Kumho world and got me a monitor for when my compy arrives. Then went to emart and bought something for the compy to go on.
Did pretty much nothing yesterday, it snowed though. Is also snowing right now. Damn, it does be cold.
Oh, and Kat, Sarah will send Micah to you, so as you can borrow it, when she gets around to it, as she has already read it.
Gotta, more classes to teach ( only 4 left today, aaahhhhhhhh ... bell).

can't be bothered updating, I've had a bugger of a day which just culminated in students fighting by throwing erasers at each other and injury a number of people, unfortunately the director didn't approve of my suggested solution to the problem, which was strangling them. I am totally going home to bed now.

Children are evil ...

Some very young child spent the whole of lst night screaming its head off preventing many a person from sleeping, including me, consequently I am rather cranky today.
The only really good thing that has happened is that my books finally arrived from Amazon yesterday and I have now offically read the latest Laurell K Hamilton vampire hunter book, so hahahahahahaha to all of you who would like to read but haven't yet (Athena, I suggest you call me, if you wish to borrow it). Also rather glad that Steph finally gets with Morelli in book 4, it took bloody long enough (Athena, also need to borrow books 7-10 from you as I don't think that I can wait a whole nother month before I buy them myself [or I could just transfer some more money to my credit card and buy them now, no, must resist temptation!]).
Yup, I guess thats all I have to say today, and thank the gods there is only one more day of work before the weekend.

because I tried to check my email but I couldn't open it, or anything, something does be wrong with gmail today.
I don't really have all that much to say again, I just want to get this done now so that I can go straight home after work as I am rather tired today, got up early to finally finish the cleaning of my apartment, which I started on Saturday but didn't finish because of my hand. I am supposed to still be wearing a bandage but it started pissing me off so now I am not, much easier this way.
I did have something else to say but I totally can't remember what it was, so I'm just gonna go now and see if I can access gmail again.

Just updating ..... because no one can say that I have been lazy and haven't.
Trying to think of interesting things to say, ummmmm.... Kat called last night coz I sent her an email with my new phone number. New phone actually has a camera so have been trying to figure out if I can send the pictures to my email account, so far have been unsuccessful.
Um, spent a bit of time talking to Nicholas today as he spent quite a lot of time online. He thinks that he may work in Aussie over the summer, so when I go over for a holiday we can probably catch up.
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm............ I think that's all, something interesting may happen tomorrow, hopefully it will be my books arriving from Amazon!

Had a bugger of a weekend

well, I got to go to the emergency room on saturday afternoon coz I picked up a pot and didn't realise that the handle was really hot and got a pretty bad burn, so my hand is all bandaged up and I have blisters on my palm. Am peeved that my director hasn't got me a medical card yet coz it cost me about $65NZ, to spend 2 minutes with a doctor and for some gauze, a bandage and some burn cream, not impressed at all. Other than that my weekend was pretty boring as I was in pain and unable to do much with only one hand. Thank the gods it was my left hand too, as I bike to work today, but will have to walk home as it caused a reasonable amount of pain to put pressure on the damn thing. So that was about the extent of my weekend. Todays good news is that I finally have a phone, yey!

Another day and still no phone

Will also be another weekend as well, seeing as they totally forgot again, I mean I've only been reminding them everyday, sometimes twice a day. I mean really it's not like there is anything important enough going on in my life for me to have a phone or anything, like people wanting to call me, me wanting people to call or me wanting to call people, those things really aren't important at all.
For those of you who read Eris' blog, the infamous package from the WEAKEST LINK has arrived, only a month or so later than it was supposed to, but hey at least it's here. Athena, will call you either tonight or tomorrow to see what you want to do about your part of the contents, it looks like a pretty interesting book to me, I managed to glance through it earlier today.
Oh, we went to see Brokeback Mountain on Wednesday, it was rather interesting, even managed to watch the whole thing without being totally disgusted at Heath and Jake getting it on.
Well, it's going to be another boring weekend for me as I spent more money than I was supposed to, so I shall be staying home and watching movies, reading or doing cross-stitch, well other that again attempting to buy a monitor from Kuhmo World!

So we went out drinking on Tuesday night ....

Since Tuesday was Alex's last day we went out after work, we had dinner at a pretty good Bar called Miller Bar, where we spent 42,000 won on food and 72,000 won on beer. After that we went to a noraeban, or kareoke room, drank more and sung really badly (thank god for individual rooms, not in front of people you don't know). There we departed from the Korean teachers and went to another bar by our apartments and drank more beer. Got home at 4am and was not feeling particularly great most of yesterday, had a rather bad headache and couldn't stop sneezing which didn't help a great deal either.
Met up with Sarah at 2, went to Kuhmo world to try to buy a monitor for a mac mini which will hopefully be purchased for me on Saturday in good ole NZ, was not particularly successful as I don't speak Korean and most Koreans don't speak English, have since had Chelsy write down what I would like, she even added her cell number in case I have any problems, will try again on Saturday.
While I'm speaking of phones I still don't have one, they promise me that they will get one for my tomorrow, so here's hoping.

Bad News

No phone at all, so don't try to call me. Evil little man demanded his phone back saying he would call the cops if he didn't get it today, and school hasn't got a replacement for me yet, so no one can get hold of me for the next couple of days as tomorrow is a public holiday (apparently a bunch of people died in some war on that days eons ago). So, if anyone even attempts to comtact me they can't. Oh, Sarah will call you on a payphone later, as am wondering if you want to come to Kumho World with me tomorrow, coz I need to check stuff out for my new computer when it arrives.
