(ok, so I started writing this blog days a go, but was so tired that I couldn't be bothered finishing it, plus I have been sick all week - actually lost my voice yesterday, yeah, enjoy it while you can! so now I will finish it)
was a weekend of very little sleep and a lot of drinking and all round good times. Left Gwangju on Friday night, got to Seoul at 12.30am, got motel rooms and dumped our stuff in our rooms, got changed and headed out for something to drink. First bar we went to was a gay bar, did not make Scott happy at all, was way expensive too. Didn't stay there long, went to another bar that had no door charge and much cheaper drinks, thank the gods, meet a sleezy guy who looked like Alec Baldwin and kept running his hand up and down my leg, couldn't be bothered causing a scene, but Carrie successfully removed him. Later on he was throw stuff like butter knives and glasses all over the bar. So, went to bad at something like 5am.
Got up again at 9.30 (not nearly enough time to sleep at all. We all got subway for breakfast (Me, NIge, Sen, Scott , and Carrie), then Nige and Carrie went off to do their own thing and Scott, Sen and I went on the City Bus Tour, went to Seoul Tower, but been there and done that before (found that the battery in my camera hadn't been charged like I thought it have, arrrrrggggghhhh! And that the bathrooms in Seoul Tower are the coolest bathrooms I've ever seen.) Jumped back on the bus and went to Insa-dong, were going to go to the King's palace, but you could only go in on a tour and the next English tour wasn't for ages and it was really long, so we decided not too, after we bought the tickets of course! So Insa-dong is a shopping district in Seoul, lots of souvenier stores, I bought a really cool new necklace and we went in to this like toy museum I guess, they had a huge collection of everything, including a life sized Darth Mal, it was pretty cool. Had some Indian for lunch, was incredibly spicy but I ate it anyway. I was feeling pretty wrecked by then and my knee was rather sore, so I went back to the motel in Itaewon to rest and Sen and Scott continuted on the bus tour.
Anyway, feel asleep until Nige called me, and said he was knocking on the door to my room, turns out he was knocking on the door to Sen's room not mine, I had a different room, coz I ended up having to share with Sen on the first night coz there weren't enough rooms. So, Nige and I went clothes shopping, yes, a guy wanted to go clothes shopping, we both got new jeans and I got 2 new tops as well, for a grand total of 57,000 won, great huh! Then we went out to dinner, had galbi, Korean BBQ, my absolute favourite food here, and drank a lot of beer, was pretty wasted by the time we left at 10. Then we headed back to Itaewon, coz Nige had dragged us half way across the city just for a cheap meal. So then we went to a couple of bars, the second one had a 5000 won door charge but after that Ladies got to drink for free, so I ended up rather drunk, and spent most of the night dancing with some guy from South Africa. Went to bad about 6am.
Got up at 9am, with the absolute worst hangover, we had subway for breakfast again, then Scott, Sen and I headed for Lotte World, a rather large theme park in Seoul, we went on some rollercoasters (not good for people with hangovers), a gyro swing (which I like more than the rollercoaster, the free fall, a bungy ride, a wave ride, this Giant Loop (that has left me with sore shoulders and a sore stomach, as you literally fell out of your seat when you went upside-down and were held place by a bar at your stomach and a harness over your shoulders), then went in the spinning baskets, which turned out to be the worst thing of all, and lastly we went on a ride called the Pharoh's Fury, which is obviously set in ancient Egypt. All this took a little over 4 hours. At 4pm, we hopped on the subway and headed for the train station and our train back to Gwangju, which was a 5.25. Got back to my apartment at about 9, Scott knocked on the door 20 minutes later, can I get my spare key from you, he lost his keys in Seoul!
Then I slept for like 14 hours, thank the gods I decided to take Monday off work!
